Huobi Group, the China-based blockchain and digital currency infrastructure provider has announced in a press release that it has hired Alex Pack as its Corporate Investment Advisor in a bid to expand further its efforts in venture investment. Alex Pack is the former managing partner at the digital currency investment company Dragonfly Capital. Huobi Group is the operator of one of the major cryptocurrency exchanges Huobi.
Alex Pack will be working with the corporate investment team of Huobi under the leadership of the Chief Investment Officer (CIO) Sharlyn Wu. He will play his role across the investment operations of the firm. Known as a seasoned investor, Alex will help the company in broadening its presence abroad with his western perspective and extensive experience that he will bring to the corporate investment team.
On his appointment, Alex said that he is thrilled to work closely with Sharlyn whom he considers one of the “long-term and visionary cryptocurrency thinkers in China”. Therefore, he said that he was excited to join Huobi. Regarding Huobi, he said, “Huobi is one of the most important companies in crypto. Huobi can be a total game-changer for the burgeoning decentralized economy, and I’m excited to support its efforts.”
Wu and Alex have already been working with each other in the past. Wu said that she is delighted to be collaborating with him in a formal environment once again. She is of the view that Alex has a great understanding of the impact of cryptocurrency as well as the decentralized finance sector. While working together with each other, she said, “we will empower entrepreneurs from all over the world to build toward a new decentralized economy and revolutionize the existing financial system.”
Alex is becoming a part of Huobi Group at the time when the company is planning its global expansion. Huobi is pushing for expanding its ecosystem beyond Asia. It is focused on cultivating blockchain innovation.
Before joining Huobi, Alex has been working as the founding managing partner at the San Francisco-based crypto investment firm Dragonfly Capital. Prior to that, he worked as the Director of Network Investing at Bain Capital Ventures.
